Poor Peter

Tom writes “What Would Jesus Laugh About?”. I have always wondered if the apostles joked around a little with each other as they journeyed across the country side with Jesus.
I imagine Simon Peter got teased a bit by his friends in a good-natured way after he tried to walk on water toward Jesus (Matthew 14:22-33). How could one not smile when one of them linked his name Peter, which means “rock”, with water and sinking?
(FYI — I had changed the image in the sidebar to the “Laughing Jesus” before I had read Tom’s post. Coincidence?)

I had a dream once where Calvary was shown to me through the eyes of Christ; and, with it, the realization that the price paid for you and me was the loss of the Spirit as He hung there nailed to the Cross. In other words, when He came down from the tree, He was the same as you and I might have been had we hung there; and the demons grabbbed Him, descending into the depths of hell. He took my walk. He took your walk. And never did He lose faith in His Father. I believe His words written there in the Psalms. Then, there in the darkness, He looked up and a great shaft of God’s brightness fell on Him and He began to laugh…..I woke up. Two days later, I went to work and a fellow asked me if I had ever seen a picture of “The Laughing Christ”. My answer was “no”; and then he handed me a copy of it. I yet have it and bring it out now and then to tell the story…………
